iPod Question

I was trying to get a few songs from my Uncle's computer onto my iPod. So, I enabled disk use for my iPod, so that I could manually manage my music.

I plugged the iPod into my Uncle's computer and dragged the songs I wanted into the iPod. The songs I wanted are now in the iPod and work fine.

My question: Can I now take the songs from the iPod and transfer them into my computer (into my iTunes)? Is this possible? If so, how? Thanks in advance.

Is Itunes directory based?? I assume it is.

find the directory windows stores itunes in.

like C:\program files\quicktime\itunes\files or something

I dont think you can, someone told me that they bought a program which allowed them to transfer ipod songs onto their itunes.

Yeah I believe you need another program.

You can without software, but it's a pain in the ass.

Apple creates "hidden" folders with weird names like 0$@#*&EBX**@().mp4

Basically you have to enable view hidden folders then open the IPOD in My Computer and copy and paste into a folder on your computer. From there you need to play every single song to open in iTunes and it will re-name the songs to their original names. Otherwise, you'd have no idea what song is what.

there used to be a third party app to do this, but i believe apple shut them down by legal force.

The BEST way to do this is to use Winamp and download the iPod plugin. I've never even installed iTunes since I've had an iPod. Winamp works great with putting songs on your iPod and getting songs from an iPod to your computer's hard drive. It also works great if you have multiple iPods. I know there can be some conflict using multiple iPods on the same computer when using iTunes.
