BJ Upton can't hit...

What's the deal with this guy? He's barely batting over .200 now. If the guy could just get on base every so often, he'd be a stud for steals.

Does he look like anything more than a slap hitter to you?

he's 22. it's all about potential with him anyway. I don't like him much but again. The upside is there.

Do you evaluate all your talent based on 134 big league at bats? :-?

guys like Verlander and Wonder Boy Weaver have increased the bar under which all rookies are judged this season. Not everyone can be that good that fast.

He was not very good in AAA this year either. He hit over 300 in Durham in both 04 and 05, but this year was only hitting .269. Hopefully whatever the problem is this year, he can fix it by next year. ;-D

I blame the D-Rays.

Getting swept every series can't be good for him. :-D

Perhaps the stress of learning a new position is affecting him?

What a waste of a can't-miss prospect. :-t

Hopefully he figures it out, he's still young. But, his value will be ridiculously low going in to next year (ie, bargain basement).

he's a lot less exciting as a prospect now since he supposedly cannot defend...i mean if he ends up at a corner OF position or something his projection as a top hitting infielder goes to a projection as a solid hitting ofer...he only just turned 22 though, so there's really no reason to consider him a failure, his hitting could come along at any time
