Need for Speed

Postby aclapsaddle » Sun Sep 17, 2006 3:18 pm

I've lead in my league all season and will probably win. In the off-season I need to pick up some speed. I've been offered Jose Reyes for Johan Santana. Seems like a high price to pay. I see a number of minor league players with 30 or more SB this year. Who has the best chance to use that speed at the major league level in 2007?

I wouldn't trade Santana for Reyes. What I like to do in my league is forget about overpaying for base stealers. (auction draft ) I try to get guys that will steal 8-10 bases or more. They all add up and keep me in the hunt.

That's my typical strategy. I have keepers like Sizemore, Bay and Utley. One great base stealer can give me the category. I don't think Santana for Reyes is a good deal. I almost had Freel at the draft, but he went a couple rounds earlier than I had him scheduled.

I'd definitely give up Johan Santana for Jose Reyes. It's a lot easier to find pitchers who become very good from the scap heap than it is to find five-tool studs.

Just traded BButler, BWood & JLoney for Mark Teixeira, Ryan Theriot & Renyel Pinto in a DYNASTY LEAGUE. Big gamble I know!

It appears someone has an attitude, too much free time, and is too lazy to read the original post.

Josh Fields and Jacoby Ellsbury could both find their ways into 2007 starting roles and steal a lot of bases.

If Marcus Sanders can retain his prospect status next year and if SF doesn't make a big FA move I think Sanders could easily steal 30 or 40 in a full year in the future.

8-o ?!!??!?1?!?

First off, it's "regain," not retain. Secondly, Frandsen is way closer to being the Giants 2B than Sanders. And finally, Sanders not only has had injury problems, but he has also struggled mightily. He's no longer even a top 10 Giants prospect in my mind.
