So I tore up my brick patio so we can pave it all and now I have 800 or so nice red bricks to do something with. I've decided to make a nice firepit for the patio. Anyone ever done this sort of thing before? I don't know whether to go with a round pit or a square one like in the picture below. Any comments or suggestions would be awesome.

I'd like it upright though. I don't want to fall into it with the mower or something.
Hmmm Then I would consult an online guide truthfully. You are gonna need concrete I assume and some sort of treatment from keeping it from erroding.
It probably isn't that hard to lay brick? I lay pipe to coppermines mom all the time and I'm sure its pretty much the same.
I got buddies that know about this line of work, but I wanted to get some of the Cafe's opinions and ideas so when I get to chatting it up with them, at least I'll kind of know what I'm hearing and talking about.

Got someone you hate?
Build a small house around their car. Don't need a roof or anything, but close it up enough that a crane can't just pick it up and move it out.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

It'd have to be a very small car, but I like the idea. I could do it to my wife this weekend after she goes to bed. When she comes back in and can't get to her car I'll say, "Well, I guess you could make me some breakfast while I move those bricks for you."
You going to do this yourself? If so I might go with the round pit. That way if you get a little out of wack then it won't be as noticeable... You might also think of using firebrick on the inside unless you are going to make it big enough to put the fire in the middle without touching the sides. Regular brick won't take the extreme heat for long...

I suppose you're the one to ask huh?
I've been looking and I really like the retaining wall looking bricks that interlock, apparently. It looks really easy. I was initially wanting to put it at the corner of our newly paved patio, but I was told that'll stain the concrete pretty bad, so I'll have to put it slightly off the patio.
