Wisdom teeth; I'm a big "P"

Ok so I'm terrified of the evil dentist and I need my wisdom teeth out. Well actually I've needed them out for like 4 or 8 years now.

Have you guys had it done. If so did they knock you out. Just drug you and use novacaine or just novacaine you?

I've had teeth pulled before and its not so bad. I don't really wanna be knocked out but I don't wanna freak out either.

Any advice?

BTW I haven't made an appt yet. But my jaw aches and i get small headahces here and there.

I was not knocked out, and trust me, you want to be knocked out.

Experiences range from near-hell to not a big deal. Mine was personally pretty bad, but luckily it didn't get infected or anything. If the teeth are now exposed, that should help. They had to "dig" for mine.

I got knocked out. It wasn't too bad. I had 6 impacted so they had to break them up and then pull them out and I didn't want to be awake for that. Just make sure you follow the directions they give you cause I had a friend who got dry sockets and he said it was more painful than having them taken out.

I got KO'd for mine. Just make sure you have someone to give you a ride home afterwards. The post-op meds are nice too.

I've had 3 removed at different times. But, each time was novacaine and there were no problems with pain 1 was done via oral surgery, still only novacaine.

My boss just had all 4 of his removed last thursday, he was back in the office friday and there wasn't any swelling he siad he felt fine. You'll probably get 15 - 20 percocets or Vikodins

Ok so everyone was knocked out. I heard it only takes like 25 minutes if you don't get knocked out.

I'm sure its on par with getting tortured for 25 minutes though

I had to drive an hour and a half to the place where I was getting mine taken out at, because of that they did all four at once, and all four were impacted. They most definitely knocked me out, and I'm glad they did.

I've been knocked out twice in my life. Both times for dental work because I metabolize novocaine extremely quickly (the max amount they can give in a 24 hour period wears off in 30-40 minutes).

Anyway, they used gas to put me to sleep for my wisdom teeth. I had never been put to sleep prior to that, so I was really nervous. Woke up at home. Don't remember my girlfriend (at the time) driving me home or anything. Just woke up on the couch. Not a whole lot of pain. A little, but they give a prescription for painkillers, and I was back to work in a couple of days.

Didn't turn out to be that big of a deal at all. Just follow the directions!!!! No smoking, no carbonated drinks, no booze (kills the antibiotic, which could lead to infection!), etc. I hear dry socket is worse than the actual surgery! I didn't wind up with dry socket, but the stories are pretty scary.

Yea I haven't been put out since I got my tonsils out when I was like 9 years old.

So thats what has me nervous. Plus I don't wanna be so out of it that I start telling my girlfriend weird things like. "I love porn" or something.

Like I said I was not knocked out, and it sucked bad. There wasn't any pain, but the sounds you hear are not good.
