I see he was activated from the dl with a thumb injury. Any updates or idea how long till he will be able to bat regularly again? Thinking of picking him up but dont want to waste one of the few moves I have left if he isnt going to be batting any more than the chump I need to dump him for. What are your opinions?

Khalil Greene won't try to swing a bat again until Sept. 15 it appears, after another attempt on Friday night didn't provide enough progress with the strained ligament on his left middle finger.

"He felt good hitting off the tee," Bochy said, "but then he went to soft toss and it grabbed him. We'll wait until the 15th and crank him up again."

I'm not sure if he'll hit before the season's end. This is his fourth hand injury in the past three seasons. I don't think the Padres will rush him back. Right now he's used strictly as a pinch runner.
