Hafner Out For Season

Postby FrogStamp » Sat Sep 09, 2006 5:41 pm

This sucks. Big time.

CHICAGO - Indians designated hitter Travis Hafner is out for the rest of the season with a hairline fracture of his right hand, the team announced Saturday.

Hafner was hit with a pitch Sept. 2 by C.J. Wilson of the Texas Rangers.

The Indians had been calling the injury a bruise and had said that Hafner was day to day.

Hafner hit .308 this season with 42 home runs and 117 RBI.

See more details in Sunday's Akron Beacon Journal.

This likely means Garko will be batting cleanup for the Tribe for the rest of the year. He's a pretty good replacement for Hafner, .952 OPS in 102 AB this season. He posted a poor average in AAA this year, but hit a lot of homers. Prior to this year, he had always had a stellar batting average in the minors.

For some reason, Nick Johnson was available in my 10-team $2000 money league (points league that counts walks). Otherwise, I would've went with Garko.

Thin would be an understatement of my team. Travis going down has to be the straw that broke the camel's back for my team. I was already treading water with injuries to: Prior, Barrett, Lirano, Kazmir, Street, Billingsly, and Harden. Where's my towel????

My question is.. will yahoo remove this guy from the "un droppable" category? If so.. how bloody long will it take yahoo to figure out he wont' play the rest of the year. I really need that roster spot OUTTA there!! So I can get a replacement without dropping someone else.

Poor HAAAfner :)

He'll come back next year with a vengeance I'm sure. :)

His nostrils have got to be flareing.
