Kazmir done???

Postby ahuff » Sat Sep 09, 2006 11:51 am

Oh No. It looks like Kazmir is done for the year.

ROTOWIRE says,

"Sep 8 - Playing catch for the first time in two weeks, Kazmir felt discomfort in his ailing left shoulder Friday and stopped the session after only nine throws, the Devil Rays Official Site reports.
Recommendation: Kazmir, who has been on the disabled list twice since the All-Star break, is likely done for the year. Despite the second half setbacks Kazmir will be regarded as one of the elite pitchers for the 2007 season after going 10-8 with a 3.24 ERA and 163 strikeouts in 24 starts this year. "

What is everyone else hearing?

Yahoo:

Sep 9 Bill Chastain, of TampaBay.DevilRays.MLB.com, reports Tampa Bay Devil Rays SP Scott Kazmir (shoulder) window to return is "closing", although he could still return to make a start this season. Kazmir played catch Friday, Sept. 8, but had to stop after 10 pitches because he felt something wasn't right in his arm. The team says Kazmir will not start again until he is feeling 100 percent healthy.

If he pitches again this season, I will be very surprised.

If the DRays let him pitch again this year they'd be making a very poor decision. There's no reason to risk it with a great young pitcher like Kazmir.

Less than a month left of the season, the DRays are out of it (as usual), he was hurting after only 9 pitches... I'd say the hand-writing is on the wall.
