He no longer has a place on the Yankees. I doubt they'll make the 'push' to get him back on the field. At this point, it doesnt really matter. They're winning games and Abreu is the man.

Yankees | Sheffield cleared to hit off a tee

Mark Feinsand, of NewYork.Yankees.MLB.com, reports New York Yankees OF Gary Sheffield (wrist) was cleared to hit off a tee Friday, Sept. 8, and he will begin a rehab similar to Yankees OF Hideki Matsui (wrist).

Mark Feinsand, of NewYork.Yankees.MLB.com, reports New York Yankees OF Gary Sheffield (wrist) met with hand specialist Dr. Charles Melone Thursday, Aug. 24, but he was not cleared to do any further hitting. He will continue to swing a bat underwater, but he will have to wait until mid-September before he can swing off a tee.

I don't agree with that at all.

The Yankees ideal lineup for the playoffs is...

C- Posada
1B- Giambi
2B- Cano
3B- A. Rodriguez
SS- Jeter
CF- Damon
OF- Abreu
OF- Sheffield or Matsui
DH- Matsui or Sheffield

Clearly there is room to fit all the stars in the lineup. The Yanks don't want to put M. Cabrera, A. Phillips, C. Wilson, or B. Williams in there if they don't have to.
