wow, good timing. I was just about to drop Guardado (since he's pretty much done for the year) so now I can move Izzy to my DL spot and pick up another player like I wanted.

Izzy

ps - I think Gagne will be back next year. His value will depend on the team he gets traded to.

If it helps, Valverde has the closer job back again for the D-Backs. From CBS Sportsline:

Manager Bob Melvin said RHP Jose Valverde (2-3, 6.64) will return to the closer's role. Valverde has gone 2.0 innings in each of his last five outings since being recalled to Arizona from Triple-A Tucson, giving up just two earned runs. "Since we've seen him come back, he's used his off-speed stuff a little bit better," Melvin said. Valverde's last save came May 24 against Pittsburgh

also, I'd like to mention in addition to:

that I also dropped Burgos in mid-season to pick up McDougle (sp), who had 1 sv for me before he was traded out of the Closer position. Not a good year for me in closing.

Right now I have 3 closers: Ostuka, Putz and Mastny. I need izzy to go to the DL, because I don't want to drop him, if he might pitch again in 2 weeks

Adam Wainwright appears to be the Cardinals choice to close games for the remainder of the season.

With closer Jason Isringhausen questionable for the remainder of the season Wainwright will take over his role in the Cardinals' bullpen. Wainwright has 16 holds this year and his 3.03 ERA is the lowest on the team.
