Brandon Wood?

Anyone has any insight as to when (or if) he'll get called up this year?

i hope he gets called up, but i doubt it will be this season.. the angels are finally playing better (4 game win streak) so no need to rush up a guy whos not ready.. plus theres not really a place for him in the lineup, now that erstads back, and kennedys hitting well (3 run game winning shot last night) expect him to have some fantasy value mid-late next season (2007)

Not as big of a fan of Wood as most. I do like him but I don't think he is the next coming....

Anyway, if he came up now or early next year I have a feeling he would just be a hack at the plate. He strikes out WAY to much in the minors and it would only get worse at the MLB level. He actually increased his SO% from last year which isn't a good sign.

2005 SO% - 24%
2006 SO% - 33%

Just temper the expectations is all i'm getting at.....

He still remains a rediculous power prospect, which is fantastic for being a SS.

I think the Angels are going to hold off from promoting Brandon Wood until mid-to-late 2007.

the ultimate question may end up being whether he comes up as a SS or as a 3B.

I'm ok with either (I'm in need of a 3B in the keeper he's my prospect in)...but I think he'd hold more value at SS.

Unless he makes a dramaitic leap this off season, there's no real rush. OC's likely a lock at SS, but for not much longer but at least a year, Kendrick is a lock at 2nd for years to come.... 3rd is the only wild card, McPherson was starting to hit when he got hurt and Izturus has done OK at 3rd... plus there's Aybar.... So unless Wood just takes 3rd base or makes OC tradeable by tearing it up in Salt Lake next year, there's no gaping need (barring injury) that sucks him up into the show next year. I think the plan is, they hope Wood gets in a good season hopefully at AAA next year and they get his feet wet in the show in 2007 with some abs and a few starts, but just a tad, then 2008, SS is his if he's ready to take it.
