Gordon not getting the call

Postby bigken117 » Wed Sep 06, 2006 8:17 am

Alex Gordon-3B- Royals Sep. 6 - 7:52 am et

Minor leaguer Alex Gordon will not get the call to replace the injured Mark Teahen.

"The most important thing for him and his development is for him to be in Wichita for the Texas League championship — to be with that group of guys and compete in that environment. We are not going to abandon the process regardless of where we are in the season," said GM Dayton Moore. Royals' fans will have to wait until at least 2007 for their chance to see the future star. In Teahen's absense, third base will be handled by Esteben German and Jeff Keppinger.

it had been rumored, but now it's as close to official as possible. Glad I didn't hold out my waiver waiting for him.

I am glad to see the Royals stick with their original plan. They stated in early August that Gordon would not be up this year, and I think it is great that they are letting him stay down in the minors this entire year. One thing to watch next spring training though is if he gets moved to the outfield, so he can get an early summer callup next year.

This is probably true but it works for me since I would have no shot at him in my keeper league this year. ;-D

I don't know, I thought they really had a shot this year... Maybe their pitching can step up

Word out of KC is that Teahen will move to the OF next year and Gordon will stay at 3rd.
