Mark Teahen done for the Year!!!

Mark Teahen-3B-Royals Sep. 6 - 12:43 am et

Mark Teahen will have season-ending right shoulder surgery on Friday, the Royals announced tonight.

Very disappointing news for those owners who have already received far more than they could have expected from Teahen this year. "The smart thing to do is shut it down now and make sure I'm ready for spring next year," he said. "Hopefully, it's just minimal and I'll be good and ready to go. Worse-case scenario, this makes sure I'm ready for spring training." The Royals maintain that they will not call up Alex Gordon to replace Teahen. It looks like Esteban German and Jeff Keppinger will see action at third the rest of the way, making both decent pickups in AL-only leagues. We prefer German, but Keppinger might get the majority of the at-bats.

I just obtained this from Rotoworld...this sucks!!!

What a crappy and unexciting team.

Tough break for us Teahen owners. He was finally living up to the Moneyball hype, maybe even exceed the lofty expectations. I'm still skeptical but I'd love to see him at 2nd base next year if that's what the Royals decide to do with him.

Yes, because rushing prospects to the majors when your team is already going to lose 100 games is the smart thing, right?

From Yahoo:

Recommendation: This is an issue that Teahen has been dealing with for the last month. "The smart thing to do is shut it down now and make sure I'm ready for spring next year," he said. "Hopefully, it's just minimal and I'll be good and ready to go. Worse-case scenario, this makes sure I'm ready for spring training." The Royals will *not* call up Alex Gordon to replace Teahen.

So it does look like he has been playing injured.
