Abbreviations and Definitions

Saw this over on the Football Side -- thought it might be beneficial over here for some of our newer members.

Feel free to add/correct, and I'll make revisions. Maybe this can get stickified like over on the Light Side.

Baseball Terms

MLB = Major League Baseball
NL = National League
AL = American League
ASG = All-Star Game
C = Catcher
1B = First Baseman
2B = Second Baseman
SS = Shortstop
3B = Third Baseman
CI = Corner Infielder (i.e. 1B or 3B)
MI = Middle Infielder (i.e. SS or 2B)
OF = Outfielder
CF = Centerfielder
LF = Leftfielder
RF = Rightfielder
CO = Corner Outfielder (i.e. LF or RF)
SP = Starting Pitcher
RP = Relief Pitcher
SU = Setup Pitcher
CL = Closer

Fantasy Baseball Terms

FB = Fantasy Baseball
Roto = Rotisserie Scoring System
H2H = Head-to-Head Scoring System
5x5 = The Standard # of Categories for Pitching and Batting
ADP = Average Draft Position (When a player is drafted)
AAV = Average Auction Value
AVG = Batting Average
OBP = On Base Percentage
SLG = Slugging Percentage
OPS = OBP + SLG
H = Hit
HBP = Hit By Pitch
E = Error
1B = Single
2B = Double
3B = Triple
HR = Home Run(s)
R = Run(s)
RBI = Run(s) Batted In
TB = Total Bases
SB = Stolen Base
BB = Base on Balls (aka a Walk)
RC = Runs Created
RC/27 = Runs Created per 27 Outs
BABIP = Batting Average on Balls in Play
VORP = Value Over Replacement Player
WS = Win Shares
QS = Quality Start
ERA = Earned Run Average
WHIP = Walks + Hits / Innings Pitched
K/BB = Strikeouts per Walk Allowed
K/9 = Strikeouts Per Nine Innings Pitched
K = Strikeout
CBC = Closer By Committee (In short it means that multiple CL's are sharing save opportunities for one team)
IP = Inning(s) Pitched
SV = Save
HLD = Hold
W = Win
L = Loss
OTC = On The Clock

Normal (Posting) Terms

PM = Private Message
WHIR = Will Help In Return (Used alot in Start/Sit and Draft, Trade, Keeper forums)
LOL = Laughing Out Loud
ROFL = Rolling On Floor Laughing
LMAO = Laughing My *** Off
PLZ = Please
ASAP = As Soon As Possible
TTYL = Talk To You Later
<3 = Heart or signifying love
BRB = Be Right Back
AFK = Away From Keyboard (As In "I'm not here right now")
BTW = By The Way
G2G = Got To Go
FYI = For Your Information
NE = Any (Can be used with other words like ne1 = anyone)
IMO = In My Opinion
IMHO = In My Humble Opinion

Could be either.

I've always thought BUMP, just meant literally, to bump your post up to the top of the board. Didn't know it really was also an acronym for "bring up my post".

you might want to also include abbrev. for players names...or even nicknames...it took me awhile to figure out what fwp meant over on the football side
