I just heard from somebody Mark Lorretta was DFA last night. The Sox have 10 days to waive or trade him. He will not be ellegable for post season play. This he said is according to the Boston Globe. Not really a big deal if he is or isn't.Not like is was somebody that could make or break the team.

Highly doubt it for two reasons
1. There isn't really a better choice for them
2. They want a draft pick for him in the off season

Maybe the Mets offer Loretta a spot, for some reason I just don't trust Valentin, based on his career.

Do you have a link? I have a hard time believing they would DFA him considering he is making very little money and he cant even be on a playoff roster anymore.

The Red Sox designated Mark Loretta for assignment last night, according to the Boston Globe. They now have 10 days to trade, waive or release him.

Not good. His contract was going to be over anyways after this season. With Ortiz coming back and Pena playing at 1B, there wouldn't be any need for Loretta DHing esp if Pedroia is to play at 2B.
