I'm sure a lot of players would hit better if they didn't have to play 150+ games in the field every year.

Sitting in the A/C between innings would definetly be a lot easier on the body.

I believe he's trying to say that Manny is so bad in the field that the fielding makes him a worst candidate to win the award. Although no stats to prove this, but I don't think people give him enough credit for what he does in the field. I really don't think he's that bad.

But I also agree with what your saying. Especially Catchers IMO.

I had supported Haf all along, but now it should be pretty clear to all that Ortiz is in second. and whether a team is contending means nothing in voting - that is a myth.

Hafner: 452ab, .310avg, 99run, 42hr, 116rbi, .437obp, .667slg

Ortiz: 485ab, .286avg, 99run, 47hr, 121rbi .400obp, .600slg

We've discussed at length that Ortiz has had much more baserunners and that he has Manny behind him (Manny+Fenway=best protection ever?), but let's just leave that out.

Tell me I'm wrong when I say Hafner is a clear number 1.
