Reds Catching: Are They Onto Something?

Last year LaRue and Valentin split C duties in CIN and combined for a solid year -- 28Hrs, BA around .260 and decent RBI numbers. Combined they were a Top 5 NL catcher.

Notwithstanding the fact that LaRue is in the midst of a terrible slump their C numbers this year are currently at about .250, 30HRs and 85RBIs and rising -- could have a 35+ HR 100RBI year behind the plate in CIN, thanks in large part to David Ross 18 HRs in 191 ABS, and a .277 average.

Fantasy aside, are they onto something here?

That's a lot of production and flexibility out of a talent-poor position. Great AB value for the money.

Anyone else do this as well in a non-straight platoon situation?
