Lester Tested for Cancer

According to the Boston Herald, Jon Lester has been undergoing an array of exams in Boston for internal medical issues, including cancer.
Now it's past the point at which even we can joke about Boston's injury situation. The Red Sox can't discuss it, but Lester was diagnosed with enlarged lymph nodes, according to the Herald's sources. Such a symptom can be caused by an array of issues, from infections to cancer. The Red Sox had hoped his upper back issues were a minor problem caused by a recent car accident.

As a Red Sox fan, I'm praying that this is nothing major.

As a Blue Jays fan, I'm parying that this is nothing major. Boston has had a lot of injuries. But I'd hate to see a yonge kid like Lester go down with cancer.

Geez man, that kind of stuff makes worrying about your fantasy baseball team seem pointless.... We had a guy in our league actually lose a child to leukemia during one season, and it really put a dark cloud over everything. We were going to pull the plug for the season that year but the guy insisted we keep going.

Hope Lester is okay, but when reports start mentioning the C word, they don't usually do it willy nilly.

Although lester was declining rapidly, hate to see this happen. RedSox have had issues this year, but this is way past an issue..

Cancer is nothin to fool around with, especially at such a young age!

Yeah this sucks. Even if you're a diehard fan Yankees fan, cancer is way beyond an illness to make fun of. I really hope he doesn't have it and that he can return next year and pitch for Boston.

Yeh wish him luck. But I do think this is precautionary tho. Looks like the curse of Red Sox just re-newed.

Jon Lester has been diagnosed with a treatable form of anaplastic large cell lymphoma and will begin treatment within the coming week.

The Red Sox didn't say what that treatment would be, but chemotherapy seems likely. Lester's season is obviously over with this news. Hopefully, the chemotherapy takes care of the cancer and he can at least have a normal life soon enough.
