Thank you and I know there have been better seasons, but my original post was to find the article.

Last post, maybe.

On the pitching side, how about Doc Gooden in 1984. 24 wins, 1.53 ERA, 268 K, .965 WHIP, all over 276 2/3 IP. GUidry had a similar season, but Doc's was better. Randy Johnson's 2001 and 2002 have to be up there. 2001: 21 wins, 372 K, 2.49 ERA and 1.009 WHIP. 2002: 24 wins, 334 K, 2.32 ERA and 1.031 WHIP. Pedro had five more wins in 1999, but I like his 2000 season with 18 wins, 284 K, 1.74 ERA and .737 WHIP. That's, I believe, the lowest WHIP ever by about .100. In the last 32 years, only one other pitcher has ever pitched enough innings to qualify and posted a sub .900 WHIP and that was Maddux who did it twice, but never came close to Pedro in 1999.
It's easy, fun, and 100% safe!

Babe Ruth 1921

.378, 177 runs, 59 HR, 171 RBI, 17 steals

better than Sosa's season, seeing that if you're playing fantasy baseball back in 1921, your HR totals are more than the rest of the league combined.

I'm not sure they are coutning seasons that old.

Just in case though, I think this might have been the best pitching season...

1884 Old Hoss Radbourn: 43 W, 441 K's, 1.38 ERA, .92 WHIP

Of course I could be wrong, I know some of the guys here are crazy in how much they know about stats from the early 1900's.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness
