Think the Red Sox offense will notice this guy being gone??
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

Which one was Ortiz?
Seems like it could be a serious issue for him. I hope he comes out ok. I have a feeling the FO is going to end up shutting him down for the season, I hope they don't, but their chances of making the playoffs are getting slimmer every day.

The team they fielded last night looked like a team out of the playoff hunt and in the middle of a rebuilding year.

That makes the wild card race a two team affair... Best of luck to Ortiz.

The Red Sox are pretty much out at this point, u would think. Yeah I know that there is September yet, but they would have to cover a lot of ground because they are going to be more than 5 1/2 games back with no offensive power with the injuries and now Ortiz out for who knows how long. Everybody knows how there pitching is, so I see a lot of losses.
Ortiz could be back in a few days, weeks, or the season. That's what indefinately pretty much means since there is no timetable.

ESPN is reporting Big Papi is out indefinately due to an irregular heartbeat. He is reportedly heading back to Boston to get it looked at.

I think the Sox were pretty much out of it before this, but I would call this the final nail in the coffin.
Hopefully this isn't anything to serious and he can get back to playing next year.

I think he should be ok. Irregular heart beats are possibly serious but they can also be caused by Anxiety and exhaustion. Papi isn't in the best physical shape so it doesn't surprise me that he may have exhaustion.
Here's some info on it.

My guess on Papi is that he's fine and will rest a few days then head back to the team on a new diet
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment
