That was actually my first thought. We aren't allowed to make pickups once the playoffs start in my league so I might go after either Jonathan Broxton or Seth McClung (fortunately its a points league!).

This Pirates situation has closer by committee written all over it, and odds are Gonzalez won't be activated as soon as he is eligible to return. :-t

Stick with McClung. All closers are owned in my league and Capps was already on my radar due to his ratios...it was actually a decision between picking up Capps to face Chi or Crain to face KC...I chose Cain this morning but swapped to Capps this afternoon when the news broke.

That just sucks. I'm pretty much screwed on the save category with Gonzo going on the DL now and C. Cordero doesn't close because of his ingrown toenail. This week was the last week for a playoff run and looks like I won't make it :~( :~( :-t

I had Gonzo :-o

so i dropped Joe Nelson and picked up Mastny instead after Mastny just recorded his 4th save in a week and a half... ;-D

hope the saves keep coming! (closers are at a huge premium in my 18 teamer)
Vaughn: What's that sh*t on your chest?

Harris: Crisco, Bardol, Vagisil. Any one of them will give you another two to three inches drop on your curve ball.

Rotowire

Update: Gonzalez (tendinitis) will likely not pitch again this season, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Recommendation: Medical tests showed tendinitis in his left elbow, but the Pirates are not ruling out the possibility of Gonzalez returning this season. However two anonymous team sources said that the risk of rushing him back so late in the year is not worth it. Considering that the Pirates are cellar dwellers in the NL Central, do not expect Gonzalez to pitch in another game in 2006.

My God...I have now lost Gonzo, Kazmir, Lester and Weeks for the season. This is getting worse and worse. And I have Manny out.
