From the NY Daily News:
The New K-Rod
At least Alex Rodriguez isn’t hitting into double plays. The $252 million man isn’t hitting much of anything, striking out constantly during Yanks’ three-game losing streak.
Thursday night
9th inning: With Yankees trailing, 4-2, Rodriguez comes off bench to hit for Nick Green, but strikes out swinging to end game.
Friday night
2nd inning: After Jason Giambi reaches on an error to lead off frame in scoreless game, Rodriguez strikes out looking and Yanks don’t score.
4th inning: With Yanks down, 3-0, A-Rod fouls off two pitches, then whiffs on third to start frame, but Bombers bounce back to score two runs.
5th inning: Giambi is again on first base after a leadoff single, but Rodriguez strikes out and Yanks don’t score, still trailing, 3-2.
6th inning: Yanks have given up a run, but score twice to tie game at 4 and are looking for lead when A-Rod comes up with runners on first and third with one out. He strikes out on a foul tip, and Bombers fail to take lead.
8th inning: With two out and nobody on, Rodriguez finally makes contact, hitting a grounder to short. He reaches on an error by Erick Aybar.
Yesterday
1st inning: Moved up to No. 2 spot in lineup, Rodriguez starts his day with a four-pitch strikeout for second out of frame.
3rd inning: With runner on second in 1-1 game, A-Rod flies out to left to end inning.
5th inning: After Johnny Damon’s leadoff walk, Rodriguez flies out to center. Yanks eventually score twice to get within 5-4.
6th inning: Yanks have tied game, but are looking for more after Damon’s two-out single. Rodriguez strikes out to end the inning.
8th inning: After Damon homers to get Yanks within 9-7, Rodriguez strikes out to end inning, his eighth punchout in 11 at-bats since returning from virus.
