El Duque?? Why hasn't he pitched in 7 days?

Postby spoilerdave » Sun Aug 27, 2006 3:31 am

He threw a freakin shutout last time. Why isn't he in the rotation? No notes on Yahoo Sports, no mention in the New York papers, nothing on google.

He last pitched on the 20th but isn't a scheduled starter anytime in the next 5 days either. He's listed as active on their roster. I don't get it. Did I miss something???

Can somone give me the 411 please.

His turn in the rotation was skipped with what is being referred to as "general soreness." He felt sore while preparing for his last start so the Mets removed him. He could resume throwing this weekend. There is no word on the severity of the problem or if the so-called soreness is affecting his arm. As the media likes to note, Willie Randolph likes to downplay injury concerns so it's hard to tell if it's significant, but with Glavine and Pedro out, it must be significant enough for him to miss a turn with those two out.
