I'm stoked! I'm even more stoked that there is a real event and I don't have to pay for it!
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
One of the craziest KOs ever and Cro Cop is on the receiving end.

Not much into UFC. I like boxing and, of course, love Taekwondo, but I can't get into UFC. My son was in a karate tournament in Wisconsin last weekend and they poked fun at the UFC with an entertaining demonstration. It was obviously staged, but the point was that the UFC is purely entertainment. Sure the guys train like crazy and are tough SOBs, but in real life they wouldn't be using the same moves they use on television. Possibly why I can't get into it. Another reason is because I think they changed the rules to make it more entertaining for television. Quicker bouts. I remember seeing one match about 10 years ago that was real UFC. It actually took place in '94 I believe and at the time was the longest match on record, lasting over 15 minutes. The fighters were in one position nearly the entire time. It was crazy.

I think you're off base here. BJJ was developed on the streets of Brazil and American-style wrestling is the most effective fight form in any amateur fight I have ever seen. Sports like Karate and TKD are fine sports but these are the types of martial arts that do not translate to real life. There is a reason why you do not see many TKD artists in MMA anymore lol.

The UFC is purely entertainment...what? Glad I missed that demonstration.

If the rules were as they were in UFC 1-3 I could see a greater variety of styles being prevalent, but what they're doing out there is very realistic and within stringent rules. You'd see the same styles of fighting irl if the fighters respected each other. If it was bloodsporteque, you'd see more knees/elbows to the (back of the) head/spine, kicking while the opponent is down, head butting, small joint manipulation, throat strikes and some other really gross nasty stuff.
Amazinz, I can't get over that cow udder in your sig
