Two hard-hitting welterweights are likely to meet at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale in June.
Anthony Johnson (7-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC), who was originally expected to fight John Howard at the event, will instead likely take on Matt Brown (9-7 MMA, 3-1 UFC).
Reports that the fight is set are a little premature, but both fighters have agreed to the contest, and bout agreements are expected to be finalized this week, a source close to the event told MMAjunkie.com (http://www.mmajunkie.com).
The event, which concludes the upcoming season of "The Ultimate Fighter: U.S. vs. U.K.," takes place June 20 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort and airs on Spike TV.
Johnson returns to action looking for his third consecutive win. Since a controversial loss to Kevin Burns at UFC Fight Night 14 (Johnson suffered a deep eye poke, but the referee missed it and allowed the fight to continue), Johnson has avenged the loss with a head-kick KO of Burns and most recently scored a first-round TKO of Luigi Fioravanti.
Brown, meanwhile, looks to continue his career resurrection when he also goes for his third straight victory. After a stint on "The Ultimate Fighter 7," Brown is 3-1 in the UFC, and the lone loss came via split decision to undefeated Dong Hyun Kim. Brown most recently scored a first-round TKO thrashing of Pete Sell.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
Yeah great fight, saved an otherwise lackluster card. This TUF opener is dragging.

Bader looked very much like a UFC wrestler of five or more years ago. Excellent control, very little ability to do anything with it. I thought the Griffin fight had it's moments but most of it was a sloppy slugfest between two guy's whose best skills are on the ground.

Was that b/c Kampmann was cut up or b/c of the failed submissions? I agree that it was very close and I thought that they were going to give it to Condit b/c the UFC and the announcers were just building him up so much. Condit got the better of the striking but Kampmann dominated on the ground - I just don't understand why he kept gassing himself on those guillotines. Condit was not as superior in the striking as the announcers were making him out to be. Kampmann is a very good striker. Like I said it was very close and I'm surprised and pleased that Kampmann won b/c I think that he deserved it.
I thought that Bader was impressive. I'm impatient for Amir Sodollah to make his debut. He's probably my favourite guy from all of the TUFs and he still hasn't had a real fight.
I wasn't crazy about the TUF opener. None of those guys looked good and I couldn't understand a thing that they said.
