:-B

Just got done watching it. Couldn't watch last night because of Easter. Anyway, what a good weekend for Long Island. Isles in the playoffs and Serra upsets GSP. I imagine someone made a fortune on that fight.

So do you think Serra got a cheap shot in on the back of GSP's head or was it legit? Either way GSP looked bad.

Not sure, Chris, only watched it once so far. First time through everything looked legit. I'll have to check it out again.

He made those comments a couple minutes after being KO'd. It wasn't until he was in his locker room that his trainers explain how he was beat.

After watching the fight again (with no beer either :-b ) and being able to pause/play, it seemed GSP's hands weren't there. He didn't use his jab effectively and wasn't prepared to fight off a Tyson like approach. He also seemed to use a lot of energy on wasted kicks.

According to Dana White at the UFC 69 post press conference Hughes will be Serra's first (only lol) title defense. }:-)

This is awesome IMO. Hughes defeats Serra. GSP defeats Koschek. Hughes v GSP III!

Serra is perfect to beat Hughes. He showed great potential punching take down defense against GSP and even if he goes, Hughes won't want to party to much down there, he'll get submitted. Serra's strengths supercede Hughes'. If Serra can now stand up with anyone, he's better than Hughes ever was and will be better the GSP if he doesn't fight better that he just did.

The greatest fights possible are Fedor vs Mirko and Mirko vs Chuck. Let's get those going :-D

And has anyone noticed there is another undefeated Gracie out there. 8-o

What?!?!

I'm no superfan like Amazinz. But even a guy who doesn't like Hughes can admit that Serra is nowhere near as good a fighter as Serra. There's a good half a dozen fighters in the welterweight division that can beat Serra on any given night but Hughes is one of the best ever. It takes GSP in his prime at his absolute best to even have a chance against Hughes on the downside of his career.

Penn, Parisyan and maybe Sanchez and Koscheck are in Serra's league. Serra has a chance, he showed that against GSP, but to say that he's better than Hughes ever was is outta line.

Now I'll get out of the way and let Amazinz blow a gasket :-b

I won't blow a gasket but I will agree with Mookie. Hughes is a nightmare matchup for Serra. Hughes is a nightmare matchup for most fighters that have BJJ as a base (except BJ Penn) because he is so strong. Maybe Serra can get the flash knockout on Hughes the way he did GSP but other than that I think the fight ends badly for Serra. Don't hold the Lyttle fight against Hughes. He came in undersized and was very cautious due to coming off the loss to GSP. Oh and I have no problem admitting this but GSP is the perfect fighter to exploit Hughes because he is versatile and his wrestling is at an elite level.
