It's not UFC but in MMA news Kimbo Slice KO's UFC veteran Tank Abbot last night.
I watched it on youtube. I didn't give Tank much of a shot because he rarely protects himself and prefers to just swing for the fences. You don't want to trade with Kimbo especially if you are old and out of shape.
It is time for Kimbo to face someone with some real MMA skills. I hear some Ken Shamrock rumors out there.
Yeah and even Ken Shamrock is not a real test. Shamrock is almost 50 years old. You can see how they have protected Kimbo so far. First fight is a complete can just to see if Kimbo melts under the lights. Then he gets an old brawler who is a decade past his prime and whose only real success came in the early years of the UFC. Now he gets an over-the-hill leg lock specialist. Might as well just let Shamrock and Don Frye tag team Kimbo.
If he makes it through this next "trial" I will definitely be interested to see how he fares against professional talent. The only thing that has me partially believing is that Bas Rutten says that he is legit and well I'm a huge Bas fan boy.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
Rutten is already saying he can go toe to toe with Fedor. You always defend your fighters. Kimbo is a far from a finished product and probably wont take on a real opponent until some point next year.
Expect James "Glass Jaw" Thompson to be Kimbo's next opponent in the summer.
Hah. Missed that. Toe-to-toe with Fedor, my butt. I have as much of a shot at beating Fedor as Kimbo does.
Anyway, WEC is live on Versus tonight at 9 EST. Doug Marshall vs. Brian Stann. Should be a heck of a slugfest. Just figured I'd throw it out there in case some people didn't realize.

That was a good one! I thought Stann was done once Doug was teeing off on him...and bang...a left outta nowhere. Good stuff.

I had to DVR it because I had to help my sister. I am going to try and fit it in between the Mets game and the Astros game. Unfortunately, despite my best effort, I heard the result.

Watched the Elitexc/Strikeforce card tonight. Started at about 4:30. Then UFC Fight Night at 7 and the new TUF at 10. Brought the bedroom TV out to the living room so I could keep tabs easier on the Mets drubbing of the Marlins. Six hours of MMA and baseball. I'm burnt out now but it was a fun night of sports.

Good mix. Mets fans usually feel like Houston Alexander did last night.
