Couture retires + Fedor signs with M-1 + Nate Diaz signs with EliteXC = bad for UFC

= bad for the fans. :,-(

Of course, if we get to see Couture v Fedor in M-1 then it won't be all bad.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I think I read that Randy has one more fight under contract to UFC so I don't really think Randy is a free agent right now. Too bad. I would have liked to see that dream match up.

Am I the only one who doesn't think Couture vs Fedor is a "dream" matchup? Don't get me wrong, Couture is a great champion and he may even win the fight, but he's nowhere near as dominant as Fedor is. If you compare Fedor's resume against heavyweights to Randy's, it's not even close. Not only that, but I thought it was BS they gave Randy a title shot against Sylvia to begin with. Prior to his title shot, he had lost two of his last three fights... light-heavyweight fights no less. I just don't think he earned that title shot.

I'm sure I'm in the minority because everybody likes Randy (myself included), but what's fair is fair and giving Randy that title shot hurt the integrity of the heavy-weight division, IMO.

Silvia had torn through that division, there weren't alot of other options for that fight...

I think you basically outlined why it is a dream match-up for most. Fedor: the most dominant HW. Couture:a great champion, one of the greatest fighters ever. The two have never faced and the window is closing on Couture.

That's basically it and the only other choice at the time was Vera and he was in a contract dispute. I won't argue that Couture didn't deserve at the time but he did in retrospect considering his performances.

Definitely looking forward to the card. If the frustration on the show is motivating his training, I think Hughes might kill Serra. :-D
