John Smoltz- Cy Young contender?

I think right now any of the 4 of Carpenter, Smoltz, Webb, and Zambrano could win the Cy. Any of the 4 go on a absolutely dominant run the next 5 weeks, and distance themselves a little bit.

I think it is down to Webb and Carp with Smoltz, C-Zam, and Harang having an outside chance. Kind of surprised no one has mentioned Harang yet.

The NL Cy Young race has a bit more tension than the AL one, but I really think it's down to Webb or Carpenter. Smoltz had a nice season, but there have been better pitchers out there.

Now, if his bullpen had theoretically gotten him those 6 wins... Maybe but I still doubt it.

Why do you think the AL race is so wrapped up? Who are you giving the nod to?

Either Halladay or Johan. Can't go wrong with one of those guys

Exactly. But it's very close...I'd go Johan, but I've heard a lot for Halladay. My point was that between those 2 it's a toss up.

It is a trajedy, but I think the Cy voting is largely based on 2 categories: wins and ERA.

It definitely seems that way, IMO.
