To be honest, I have no idea how he'll do next year or the rest of his career. He was as unheralded a prospect as it get before this season. I got him in my dynasty league in a trade because 1)I couldn't get either Scott Olsen or Anibal Sanchez, in that order 2)I thought if he was given a rotation spot, with the home field, he could be a high 3 ERA guy, and I thought preseason that the Marlins wouldn't be as bad as everybody thinks and would at least beat 1 NL East team.
He was pretty inconsistent as a reliever at the beginning of the year, completely crushing the idea that he could be a closer. Then he got a shot in the rotation and just found it. Now I wouldn't call more than half a season worth of starts from him a fluke. But honestly, how does a C+(according to Sickels, or was it B-, forgot) who's best described as "consistently average(compare to the top pitching prospects)" in the minors blossom into the NL ERA leader and I seriously doubt anybody saw it coming.
So, is he for real? No, I don't mean for this year. I mean for the rest of his career. I don't see him falling apart Ankiel Style, but a career filled with mediocrety(high 3 ERA in florida) is definitely a possibility I think. No?
BTW: traded him straight up for Matt Cain earlier in the year, not regretting it yet since Cain has so much better stuff.

oooo...kay? when I read: "Same thing I thought of him here" I thought you'd have something like a half page thought on him. I looked over the thread twice but can't find a post by you

I think he is a great #3 starter. A little under the radar, but has proved thus far that he is worthy of being heralded. I believe his ERA is still below 3.00...not too shabby.
