why would I still use it if I'm protesting? I can't access it here for some reason. :-D

Where's "here?"

Anyone that bans Wikipedia sucks.

Location: Shanghai, China

I figured he wasn't allowed to acces it since I knew he was in China.

Oh yeah, good point. Wow, what's up with China sensoring the Internet? Not that there aren't congressmen here in America that would like nothing more. I hate censorship in all forms. The only censors should be yourself and/or your parents. Society can only be better off for having access to information, unfettered. Yeah, I got to use "unfettered" in a sentence, finally!

i believe china is a communist nation, so i could see why they'd ban internet sites....not sure if that's a true statement though.

is Coppermine trying to get the cafe banned? Madison being a communist party member only goes so far... :-b

Anyway, this is the only notable site that I use that's banned(or at least I think is). CNN is surprisingly not banned. And if I have to choose between Social stability here and being able to access wikipedia. I'll choose Social stability. Though I hardly ever look up anything more than some entertainment info on it anyway.

edited out the last line so I don't get into trouble.

Ding ding ding. I'm not very surprised by it, I mean it's pretty common knowledge that communist countries/dictatorships heavily censor their citizens.

Yes doctor, I am sick.
Sick of those who are spineless.
Sick of those who feel self-entitled.
Sick of those who are hypocrites.
Yes doctor, an army is forming.
Yes doctor, there will be a war.
Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

China's goverment is much complex than just "communist." It is, interestingly, a free-market communist state. That doesn't change the fact that the gov't has control over the media and what its citzens are subjected to. If you recall, a few months ago there was a lot of debate and criticism floating around Google and Yahoo. Both companies claimed that they would never offer services to China if they were required to be censored and/or monitored. Well, times change and both Yahoo and Google offer government censored search serviced to China.

Surprisingly, France and Germany require internet search filters as well, but not to the extent of China.

Oh, and America rules.
