Very True.
I actually think Green will be a nice bridge for the Mets to Fernando Martinez. I also think this spells the end for Cliff Floyd wearing the Met uniform after this year.
Fine move by the Mets. It's always nice to have the salary flexibility to be able to acquire guys like this if you're the Mets. Depending on the money they're getting, it kinda hurts them next year, when the'll be tying up a TON of cash in Delgado, Wagner, Pedro, Beltran, and now Greene.
Still, I like the move to add depth for the playoff run, especially since they're starting a rookie in RF.

Nope he has one more year.
Green is set to make $9.5 million next year with a club option for the 2008 season at $10 million. If the option is not exercised, Green would receive a $2 million buyout.

I suspect Counsell is next to leave, followed by Gonzo.
Counsell maybe, but def. not Gonzo until after the season. No way they will give up that easily. They're only a couple games out.
I seriously doubt Gonzo will be back in Ari next year with his team 10 million dollar option likely going to be declined. A lot of other guys that are younger and produce the same or better are available for much cheaper than 10 mill.

Cliff Floyd is a FA so Milledge should replace him.

I'm guessing that the Mets actually keep Green until his FA year.
next 2 years should have
Milledge in LF
Beltran in CF
Green in RF
2009
Milledge in LF
Beltran in CF
Fernando Martinez in RF (Guy has a rocked arm!)
Commissioner approved the trade. Mets sent Evan MacLane. No word on the $ yet. Anyway, I really don't see the Mets picking up his '08 option. It wouldn't surprise me to see him traded away this off-season.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
