After a hot start, he got figured out by hitters, but he has adjusted. Mike Butcher (Rays Pitching coach) has worked with him and altered his approach. Since then:

Opponent W/L IP H K BB ER
Boston - 5.1 5 7 2 2
Seattle L 8 5 6 1 2
Tor W 6 4 7 1 1
Texas W 6 8 7 1 3

During his time in the minors he average over a K an inning and only had 6 walks

What's the story with this guy. Is he for real or is he still in the honeymoon stage of a rookie pitcher?

I've been noticing him because he keeps showing up as the best pitcher on Yahoo over the last month. He is K'ing a batter an inning now and not walking a soul. I just hate his matchups the rest of the way. A lot of AL East opponents left on TB's schedule.

His honeymoon was over in the middle f the season, he has adjusted and started to dominate again.

I've had him on my team since he readjusted, and he's helped me tremendously. I believe he's extremely underrated and will be a solid #2 behind Kaz going into next year. He's got decent numbers, even after getting shelled for a run of starts. Keeps his walks down while improving on his strikeout ratio per 9. His past seven strikeout totals- 6 (ANA), 6 (NYY), 7 (BOS), 6 (SEA), 7 (TOR), 7 (BAL), 4 (TOR). I would be very happy to have him at the end of my roto next year, and I plan on doing just that ;-D . The Rays' pitching is starting to turn it around, slowly but surely.
