Don't you think that maybe people see a generically titled thread called "Rich Harden", and go in thinking they're going to be given an update rather than being asked for one?

And no, I don't know anything besides what previous updates said (started throwing a week ago, status for the season iffy, management suggests any regular season comeback would be in relief with starting reserved for playoffs).

this is the last thing i heard
"Fragile Oakland starter Rich Harden, who has been sidelined since June 5 with a sprained ligament in his right elbow, had an optimistic throwing session on flat ground on Saturday. A's manager Ken Macha noted, "He was pretty positive about how he felt. He's got a long ways to go yet. I just wanted to see where he was and how he is feeling about himself, make sure we've got good focus on what we're doing and a plan. He had a little smile on his face and said he'd pitch before the year is over. If Harden does return in September, Macha said, "He would go to the 'pen', possibly right into closing games for us." With Huston Street on the DL, Harden could be reborn as a closer over the last couple weeks of the season."

I know that it's spelled "knew anything". Oh and also apparently even if he comes back this season he might only work out of the bullpen. ;-)

I didn't have the DL spot to spare and I dropped him a week ago. It's at least 3 weeks until he can pitch. Then it sounds like the A's will use him in relief if they're in playoff contention or shut him down completely if they're not. Either way, there's probably not much value in a non-keeper league.
