Fire Francona?

I don't see any reason to fire Theo. He may have blown this year (which sucks to all the vets and guys who will retire/leave like Wells and Loretta), but if the Sox are dominant next year, and in '08, '09, etc no one will care about this year. Despite this, even if Terry had nothing to work with, he's still a horrible manager. I've wanted him fired from when he started, and it has nothing to do with them not having a great year. There's a players manager, and then there's letting everyone walk all over you (Terry is the latter). He makes very bad strategic decisions, and screws up the lineup all the time.

This really is interesting. Maybe some fans still like Francona for 2004 and give him a pass.

I hate when fans blame managers for a team playing bad. Why can't it be the players' fault? How about Theo not making any deals at the deadline? Francona will be manager next year.

I also agree with teddy ballgame. If we are good for years tocome with these guys, then I have no problems. Theo led us to a WS for the first time in 86 years. Dont call for his firing 2 seasons later because we may not make the playoffs.

Of course he will. The thing is he shouldn't. I don't think anyone is blaming him for the players' poor performances either...it's his idiot decision making and the way he has no control over the players.

I wouldn't take this small sample size as what most fans think. All of my friends also think he should be fired. I know me and my friends don't mean much, but the radio stations, and most callers agree he is not a good manager which is a large voice of the fans.
