Marcus Giles hopes to return to the Braves lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Marlins. But if the pain in his left hand persists, he's planning to get a cortisone shot that would likely keep him out of the first two games of the upcoming three-game series against the Pirates.
Giles has been playing with discomfort between the index and middle fingers of his left hand for the last couple of weeks. But after he caught a line drive during Friday's batting practice, the discomfort increased significantly.

With the swelling still in his hand on Saturday, the Braves were once again forced to keep Giles out of the lineup. He's able to swing without discomfort and is thus available as a pinch-hitter. However, in the field, Giles says that he'd have trouble receiving hard throws from the catcher (on a stolen-base attempt) or from the third baseman.
