Huston Street leaves w/injury

Postby converge241 » Fri Aug 18, 2006 11:26 pm

Huston Street left Friday's game in the eighth inning with an undisclosed injury.

There was no obvious indication that there was anything wrong with him, but the trainer came out for a visit and he was removed from the game. Justin Duchscherer would be the favorite for saves if Street is going to miss some time.

Huston Street suffered a strained right groin in Friday's game and appears to be day-to-day.

"He just got more sore as time went on," trainer Larry Davis said. "He felt it earlier (in the eighth inning) and he kept on pitching." Street will be reevaluated on Saturday. If he's going to need a week or two off, Justin Duchscherer will step into the closer's role.

It may be time to pick up Duchscherer. I havent heard anything else about Street yet but I would think Duchscherer would move into the closer role if street misses any time. Although Calero may get a few saves I think Duchscherer will get the most ops.

I'd rather have the A's closer than some of those guys. I also read that Street missed 12 weeks in college for the same injury.

I don't know if he'll miss even a week, but I'm gambling on it...

I've got Justin Duchscherer and this is actually probably bad for me. I'm a long way from catching the next guy in saves, but I'm close to catching a lot of guys in holds, and it's past the trade deadline.
