Giants Top 10 Prospects

Postby shortsavage » Fri Aug 18, 2006 8:46 pm

I'm working on a top 10 prospects list for the Giants and I thought Giants fans around here may want to see it.

No./Player/Pos
1. Tim Lincecum SP
2. Jonathan Sanchez SP
3. Clayton Tanner SP
4. Kevin Frandsen 2B
5. Brian Wilson RP
6. Emmanual Burress SS
7. David Quinkowski SP
8. Eddy Martinez-Esteve OF
9. Fred Lewis OF
10. Nick Pereira SP

In the picture: Brian Anderson (RP), Ben Snyder (SP), Sharlon Schoop (SS), Nate Schierholtz (OF), Sergio Romo (SP), Adam Cowart (SP), and Henry Sosa (SP)...Angel Villalona too if he signs.

This is still pretty rough, but I'll keep you updated as I play around with it.

Where does Daniel Ortmeier fall in the sceme of things, Is he considered a top prospect? Or is he just going to fade away?

Ortmeier will be lucky to land a career as a No. 5 outfielder.

Has Merkin Valdez' injury cost him a spot on this team. Or, was he just missed?

I still think valdez can make some contributions but he is no longer the top prospect he once was. it's a solid list - just a few talking points - people in the organization are pretty high on Burress, I might move him up a little. Wilson I would definitely move up as well, I'm really high on him, I think you may see him in the closers role in SF as early as this season. He has the stuff and the mentality to be a big time player...
