Has a rookie ever won the Cy Young??? It would be fun to see Webb's record if he pitched in Atlanta... Oh well

Not sure if a rookie has ever won it or not. Unfortunately, there's no way that Webb will win the Cy. I'm still hoping he gets the recognition he deserves and gets the NL ROY.

Aye, he'd better win the ROY...he's been the better pitcher all year, but doesn't have that high leg kick that gets him the attention.
I'm curious to see how high in the draft he goes. Not many folks in my league are aware of his high k's (he's a K machine). I'll look to get him as early as I can hoping he'll improve...

He has given up more runs in the first inning than any other (26). He picks up steam as he moves along and his concentration improves. If he can beat the first inning curse -- which is purely a mental thing -- then he'll be an elite pitcher.
Now he's a good pitcher with superb run support.
Just what I was going to say. It seems like Ortiz settles down after the first few innings, after he's gotten into the flow of the game and has faced everybody once.

I think that if the Cubs make it into the playoffs and Prior keeps pitching the way he has and ends up with something like 18 wins, then he will probably win it. If not, it will be between Schmidt and Gagne.
As far as Ortiz goes, he is going to be a guy that is way overranked next year and should be on everyone's bust lists. If he doesn't get the run support, he is useless as a fantasy pitcher, because his ERA is mediocre, his 1.33 WHIP is atrocious, and he doesn't get many Ks. I also think that with the walks and baserunners allowed, he is a very good candidate to just fall off the map and flame out some year, like Lima did a few years back. I suggest avoiding him like the plaque next year.
the only thing he has is the wins from being on such a high offensive team
Prior and Schmidt are still in the hunt, but they need to run off a string of wins to end the season and Gagne has to slow down or blow a save or two.
