The worst team of the past 5 years is easily the Devil Rays. The worst team of this year is the Royals, even though they are better then I had originally thought they would be this year. A team with a very dim future as of now would be the Giants and the Nationals if they can not resign Soriano.
I think the Rays are actually going to be quite a good team for years to come. Unfortunately, unless they spend the money though, they won't get past 3rd place.
I think the Giants have to worst future, right now, as well as the worst farm system. They might spend money on some FA (Soriano) or resign Schmidt but they have no superstars on their team anymore. If nothing is done and all their FAs leave their best positional player is then Randy Winn...very scary.
I think the Royals look worse than they really are because they are in the same division as the White Sox and the Tigers. If they were in the West I don't think they'd look as bad. But I do agree they are still bad but the division they're in doesn't help their cause.
Giants - Brian Sabean doesn't have a clue how to build a team. Half of this years team is over the hill. There really isn't any minor leaguers to replace them. Who was the last marquee player the Giants acquired. You can't count Bonds. It was his choice to come home. OK, Rob Nenn, look how long that lasted. And the final result.
