Pat Burrell

Postby The Big Train » Tue Aug 15, 2006 12:14 am

I suppose it's not really anything new, but The Baseball Injury Report had this to say about Burrell:

Pat Burrell (OF, PHI) Burrell admitted to the media on
Tuesday that his troublesome right foot will bother him the
rest of the season. It's already cut down on his mobility in
the field, making him a risky player to have in the outfield
in the late innings of a close game. Burrell had surgery on
the foot in October 2005 to remove a bone spur. He's already
starting to look into having another surgery to eliminate
the pain. Does he have the surgery before the end of the
season to allow more time to heal, or does he go the rehab
route since last year's surgery didn't clear up the problem?
If Burrell is on your roster, prepare to see him either
miss a bunch of games in September or be shut down for the
year to have surgery.

Yeah, I also picked him in round eight, in addition to picking Griffey in round seven. :-/ They've both been totally mediocre outfielders all season long. Burrell (.259-23-73) has actually been a little better than Griffey (.242-23-64).

I dumped Griffey a couple of weeks ago, but have been reluctant to drop Burrell, thinking that his playing time might improve with Abreu gone, and consequently he might heat up. The Phillies offense has really heated up lately also. This news is not promising. But I just know if I drop him somebody else will scoop him up and he'll go on a hot streak. :-o

i was really worried about that too but i waited all year for him to have a hot streak and it never really happened...after two weeks he's still a FA in my leauge...after this news i think he is a very safe drop right now...let him be someone elses headache
