Ian Snell Changed His Name to Match Wife's

Postby JTWood » Sun Aug 13, 2006 10:53 am

The strangest thing about Snell though was a decision a couple years ago to change his last name from Oquendo to his wife’s maiden name of Snell. Guess we know who’s the boss in the Snell household.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. :-b

I might change it too if my name was Oquendo. Although Snell wouldn't be my first choice. }:-)

I read about this a couple years ago. IIRC he did it because he didn't have any strong ties to the name Oquendo and preferred the name Ian Snell to Ian Oquendo. I agree.

I don't see anything really wrong with is. Unorthodox, sure, and I'd never do it, but it's his choice, right?

Does anyone have a link to a story about this? It is quite a devastating revalation if any of my leaguemates found out since I have been pimping Snell to an absurd and obnoxious level.

Ian Snell is his birth name. Oquendo is his wife's name. He played as Ian Oquendo from 2001-2003. Baseball Reference

After changing his name he went undefeated for more than 2 years and when he finally lost a game he decided to change his name back to Snell. Odd dude. Won't talk about it.
