Cardinals are finished

How many Cardinal fans here think so? They have NO pitching and it looks like they have no spirit or will to win.

It also looks to me that Woody Williams' arm is dead tired and ready to fall off.

I agree that they have their work ahead of them. If Larussa manages to pull this one off, then this will be his best job ever.

they're not entirely out; it depends how hitchcock and morris handles the rest of the season. if they can go out there and do they're job, the cards are money for the ws.

I think they probably have less than a 30% chance of winning the division at this point, but at only 2 games out, it's not totally out of reach. The rest of the schedule is pretty winnable, with games against Cincinatti, Milwaukee and Colorado and something like seven games against Houston. If Morris is still firing on all cylinders, and they can win 5 of those 7 games, there's still a great chance. Even if they can play spoiler and keep the evil Cubs out of the playoffs I'll be happy. I detest no team more than I hate the Cubs.

It's gonna be really hard for the Cardinals to climb back into this race....They need to upgrade their pitching desperately!

Well, I still think they have a better starting rotation than the Astros do, especially if Oswalt doesn't come back at full strength. Wade Miller has been very inconsistent, and the rest of the rotation is a bunch of rookies and retreads.

That may be true jdh, but the Astros are getting the job done and the Cardinals aren't....

We will see what happens. I still think whoever wins the Central will wind up sweeping the Braves in 3 games in the division series (of course assuming the wild card comes from the east which seems likely).
