Am I right to be furious!?!?

Yea, this situation sucks. I'm in first place in my Yahoo Public League with a huge lead in HRs and RBIs, so I've been trying to trade Hafner for a while now, but the league refuses to let me trade at all. Basically, Hafner for V Wells, Tejada, Jeter to 3 different managers have all been vetoed. 2 people accused me of cheating on the Wells trade.

The 3 trades in their entirety were
Hafner, Contreras for V Wells, Chris Ray
Hafner, Contreras for Tejada, Pierre
Hafner, Capuano for Jeter, Tom Gordon

what is a winners league?

anybody who won in a public league the previous year can sign up for a public "winners league". So anybody in a winners league was a yahoo public league winner the previous year. Does that make sense?

gotcha. been playing in yahoo leagues and frequenting this site for years now and ive never heard of that. weird.

Maybe it's because you suck :-b

Oh..... a yahoo public league, that explains it. I'm in one, but just for draft practice the day before my real draft. Out of fairness to anybody in the league who REALLY cares about winning it, I try to stay somewhat competitive by monitoring my team and make sure I've got starters starting or if a guy goes in the real DL, I DL him too and pick up somebody... but that's it.

Let's just say if a guy I have on a cold streak, I ride it out. Once a week or so out of curiosity I go to the league page to see where Im ranked, but It doesn't take me one minute a day to manage that team. I've basically been in 2nd all year, about 5 points behind this other guy. I don't know how active he manages his team though, but I assume he must do at least what I do to be ranked #1.

A friend of mine once joined a public league with the team name Pub Leagues Suck, turns out he's right.

When would you want it to be? Most of them are August 13th.

Anyways, you absolutely have a right to be furious. At the same time, you shouldn't bother with Yahoo! Public Leagues. Next year get a league going through the Classifieds forum here.

ours is august 1st. i wouldnt mind it being a week or so earlier either. teams with no chance in non keeper leagues have no reason to make deals.

That's ridiculous. Guess you dont like the competition, and agree this trade shouldnt have been made. :-P

i kinda agree with the other owner.... as a league we collectively agreed no trades with a guy that hadnt kept up with his team all year... sure we could make tons of trades with lots of players that seem of equal value, but if your tanking a bottom team further into last whats fair about that?

That's rediculous. That's a good trade. Players are resources. You have enough of what player 'A' provides (Berkman) and thus wish to trade him for a player whose resources you require (Crawford). They are both high caliber players who provide different yet valuable assets. If I played in your league I would commend you on excellent resource management. When a good trade like this goes down it is up to the other managers to respond, not veto. I would seek out your weaknesses - possibly batting average now since Crawford is slumping and rbi, hr and try to take advantage. Tactics and counteracting is what makes this so fun - not vetoing trades. As well as trash talk - which it sounds like you are a fan of as well.
