Jeremy Hermida: Bust?

He's a bust this year as far as contributing. Of course, so would Felix if you were like Yanks 04 and thought he would be your ace. He's obviously getting it together, but drafting a rookie as your #1 or 2 isn't smart no matter who it is.

he was a bust this year based on most rankings. i didnt have him very high on mine. he is just 22 though and i think he missed most of the first two months with an injury of somesort. he also had a .935 ops in june. he still has a bright future.

Perhaps his numbers would look a little better if he were batting in the 2 hole. His OBP is good, but yes overall a "disappointment" to fantasy squads this season.

He did get hurt early on, but his expectations from everyone were way too high, including me (15th rd pick as a 3rd OF? Not great.)

What was everyone expecting? If this achieved to maximum expectations this season, all you would be looking at is Randy Wynn.

You may say he is a bust, but I say he is a sleeper for next year if you are in a keeper league.

Looks like Uggla beat him to the role. His career looks bright though although I doubt he'll be having a Uggla-esque season next year.

Hermida was actually hitting around .300 a couple of weeks ago before this recent slump. He still has a good OBP, but other than that, not much. Potential for the future is still there. Putting too high of expectations onto a rookie sometimes turns out this way.

Here's an interesting note for those who frequent John Sickels's minor league ball website. Take a look at his Jeremy Hermida crystal ball. Now there is someone who wasn't overrating Hermida for 2006. His projection is so close it's almost scary.
