Jeremy Hermida: Bust?

Postby Prooks25 » Sat Aug 12, 2006 1:08 pm

I know it's very early in his career, but he has been atrosious this season. He honestly doesn't even put up good enough numbers to statr for the Marlins right now. What's going on with this guy? I thought he would be a sure bet second half stud.

Are you talking about the season, or his career? It sounds to me like you're asking if this guy's career is a bust -- which is craziness...

You can never expect a rookie to be a stud. It seems like Hermida's play has been hampered by his injuries. I don't care to have him on my roster at this point, but there's no telling what next year brings.

Agreed. Based on my lofty expectations, I would say that this season has been a bust. I am not even close to being ready to call his career a bust, though.

He's not a bust because he was overrated in the first place, especially here at the Cafe.

Hes a bust for this season, but by no means is his career a bust. This season will just make it that much easier to get him in drafts next year ;-D

I'm guessing bust based on the way he was touted here. His ability to hit hard line drives and HR does not justify the walk rate he had in the minors. That means he'll see more pitches in the zone. His ability to hit them will have more affect on his OBP than in the past. I don't see him having a good year for two or more seasons, if he can adjust.

Exactly, say it with me "Post-hype sleeper." Next year he'll be available late in the draft, and then that 20-20 potential will show...hopefully

And...he'll actually have some sort of value due to the draft slot. ;-D

Way too soon for him to be labeled a bust after 1 full season (counting last year). This is almost as bad as calling Felix dog poo... at the young age of 20. Way too soon to call anyone that is a rookie a bust.

He's a fantasy bust this season, but he isn't a bust as a real life player...he's just a rookie.
