2007 Draft

Postby Belle4Hall88 » Sat Aug 12, 2006 2:12 am

Ok so here's the deal, the store I work at is going out of business in about 6 weeks. All the employees will lose their job. Without sounding like a homosexual, a bunch of the guys I work with are pretty close with each other. And most of us are big baseball fans. We decided two weeks ago that we would play fantasy baseball in 07 with each other. Problem is about half of the guys are moving to different states. So we decided to do our draft for 2007 this week. Liriano at 16 with his current injury?

Vlad at 18!?

Lugo and Renteria before Rollins?

Peavy at 76?

There are some questionable picks in every draft, but ... WOW.

You got a good team started but took quite a few gambles, especially at SP.

wow the worst pick was definately sizemore in the first round. I'm not sure what that was all about. Especially cause the guy with the last pick got manny and ortiz....wicked deadly combo

How does Vlad fall to the 2nd round? 8-o I would still take Vlad over Crawford under any format (unless it heavily, heavily favors SB's).

I think Ortiz is a top 5 pick next year especially after the MVP-caliber season he's posting. I see Reyes and Sizemore as more as early 2nd round picks. I wouldn't draft either over Big Papi.

I prefer Ichiro over Jeter, especially with SS being deeper than originally thought. I'd take Berkman over Morneau still, but you can make the case for either, although I pride consistency and potential over potential.

I'm puzzled as to why Rolen and Chipper Jones go in Round 3. Dye at 3 sounds a little steep to me.

Is Crede really that good? Round 4 good? I hope I'm not missing something here. Peavy still deserves to be at the latest a 4th round pick.

Brandon Webb in Round 5 is a hell of a bargain. I see him as a 2nd round pitcher, at the latest, an early 3rd round pick.

Despite the down year, I still rank Rollins over Lugo, Renteria, Guillen, and Furcal.

Corey Patterson in the 7th is questionable too, given that he's still the same batter he has been over his career, and it has shown with his recent slump.

Some questionable picks to say the least, but please invite me to play in your league. I'm sure I'll play the role of doormat...stomper. }:-)

It's more fun to do it while were working :-)

Also, typo. Hova's Clan drafted Chris Ray not Hoffman.

Will post rounds 10-18 tonight.

Not sure how Vlad went 18th overall, but when I realized he wasn't be taken I was hoping he would fall to me with pick #20. I am a HUGE Crawford fan, thats why I took him with the 5th pick. Besides maybe Jose Reyes he is the only player that will give you .300-100-20-80-50 with no problem.

I thought he would go in the middle first arond the 7th/8th/9th pick. Getting Ortiz and Manny back to back was awesome for him.

I wanted to get SS out of the way early and I know Jeter will produce for me.

These picks puzzeled me as well, I thought these guys would be picked around the 5th or 6th round, with Dye maybe going 4th. Not going to defend these picks :-[quote="The Artful Dodger"]ger"]Is Crede really that good? Round 4 good? I hope I'm not missing something here. Not defending the pick, but he is on pace to go .307-90-36-111. As for Peavy, I think 4th round would be a risk on him.

I was thinking about drafting him, but I usually like to wait on pitchers.

1st pick was horrible, crawford shouldnt be picked over ortiz, manny, vladdy, wright. Second you picked Jeter before Thome and Berkman, when you drafted speed first round. Third was good, fourth was good, fith is a bot early for a catcher, sixth i really dont like, you already have jeter why pick Lugo.King Felix will come around. I like the ben sheets pick Late in the draft, Rickies a solid second baseman, good pick.
