Callling up Delmon in September should not, and should never be, viewed by anyone as a "reward" for throwing his bat at an umpire.
The reality is that Delmon is in AAA right now, and has been for the past couple of months, for the sole reason of punishment for throwing the bat that unfortunately landed on the chest of the umpire.
While he is in AAA, maybe he gets a little better at baseball, but the primary reason he is there now is because of the bat throwing incident.
The question is how much longer does Delmon stay in AAA? How much longer would satisfy everyone out there? The answer is that you can not please everyone. Some people say he should be in the majors now. Some people say he should have been up last month. Some people say he sould get called up in September. Some people say he should never get called up, but rather, he should spend the next twenty years to life in jail.
Some people on these boards don't want him called up (using the bat throwing thing as the excuse) because they didn't draft him on their fantasy teams and want to be able to pick him up next year or when some impatient owner dumps him.
In any case, it doesn't matter much. After seeing how the FO is handling the Dukes situation, I am confident they will bring up Delmon at the right time, whenever that happens to be.
