Adam Wainwright looked real good at the beginning of the season. He`s still not giving up a lot of runs, but he is allowing a lot of baserunners.

Do you think he`ll settle down on this WHP thing? I was hoping he might be a starter in the near future.

Well, he's never pitched an entire season. I think its fatigue that is showing with 50 games left in the season (plus most likely playoffs). I think since Mulder, Suppan, & Marquis are all being pending FA I think Wainwright will start next year along with Reyes. I'm probably in the minority in thinking that the Cards should resign Mulder while he's struggling. A pitcher of his caliber (although struggling and on the DL) would be much more expensive on the FA market. Mulder just turned 29 and is an always valuable lefty. I envision...

definitely wont start this year. i would call his status for starting next year 'probable.'

he's basically had one month and a couple innings of bad whip. its a bit worrisome but not exactly unusual for a relief pitcher, and especially not unusual for a rookie pitcher.

buehrle has an option next year that will most certainly get picked up despite his struggles this year.
