I'm not worried too much about the bats going back to Fenway, but the pitching staff is not looking good ever since Varitek went down.
Big 5 game series at the Fens this weekend against the yanks.

Is it just me, or does nobody (except maybe the Twins) in contentions seem like they have good pitching. Some teams have good 1's and 2's but 3,4,5 are crapshoots for basically every team this year. No one looks really stacked with starters.
A. Lopez has to get used to these pitchers. He hasn't caught any of htese guys in his whole career. Once he gets used to what they throw, we'll be in a lot better shape.
B. Wakefield's coming back soonish (hopefully). The innings he throws will give our bullpen a nice break.
C. Kyle Snyder is actually looking better recently.
D. Wakefield's cmoing back in a few weeks.
Now for the bad...
A. Our bullpen ahs really been struggline recently. Nobody down there has done a good job the past week or so. And in reality, we need to stop using just Delcarmen/Hansen/Timlin/Papelbon. Hansen's not taht good. He shoudl be in AAA this year honing his skills. Same goes for LEster really, but we need him in the rotation (unless Jason Johnson and Wells figure out how to pitch, but I've given up on Boomer.) We could use Tavarez and Seanez. Seanez has been really good the past two years (he's so underrated taht nobody notices this), and Tavarez, while he's struggled this eyar, has been good in the past. Oh, and also in our bullpen, we need a lefty specialist. Can't we trade for some lefty specialist cheap?
B. Our bottom of the rotation isn't getting it done. THhey really haven't all season either. Lester was going to crash and burn at some point, and this is the point. Jason Johnson might end up being decent, but he's gotta recapture what he had a few years back, so i don't know... Wells needs to work out his flaws, but I don't know if we have time for taht... eh.. I relaly dont' know the answer to this problem.
C. Our manager can't manage a bullpen. Francona needs to learn when to pull a dude. He leaves Beckett and Schilling out there WAY too long, a lot.... Tonight's game is a good example. Once Schilling got in trouble in the 8th, Francona should have pulled him. Bring in Timlin, then Papelbon, we have a pretty good setup/closer combination, they just need to start getting the job done. Timlin/Papi have had plenty of time off; it's the 7th inning and before where our guys need rest.
All in all, the Sox will be alirght and be in the race in September, providing they don't put themselves out fo the race during the 5-game series coming up.....
